New Booklet Released: “Seismic Resilience and Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment”

The Shake-Up project is pleased to announce the publication of its new booklet, Seismic Resilience and Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment. The publication explores how buildings can be designed and renovated to simultaneously improve earthquake safety and energy performance, two challenges that are increasingly important for Europe’s building stock. 

The booklet highlights the importance of adopting an integrated approach to building renovation, combining structural strengthening measures with energy-efficiency improvements. By addressing these aspects together, building professionals can enhance safety, reduce energy consumption, lower greenhouse-gas emissions, and increase the overall resilience of the built environment. 

Targeted at architects, engineers, construction professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders in the building sector, the publication provides an accessible overview of the concepts behind seismic resilience and energy-efficient retrofitting. It also underlines the need for skills development and specialised training to support the transition toward safer and more sustainable buildings across Europe. 

This booklet is part of the broader activities of the Shake-Up project, which focuses on promoting knowledge, training, and innovation in integrated building renovation.
