Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA), the event brought together citizens, experts and organisations committed to advancing Europe’s climate transition. The event also included EU-funded initiatives such as Shake Up Your Skills, which contribute to building the skills needed for a sustainable and resilient future. Among Shake Up’s partners, Moverim also took part in the event. 

With over 800 participants attending in person and many more joining online, the event highlighted the growing strength and diversity of the Climate Pact community. Across three days—starting with a dedicated Community Day for Climate Pact Ambassadors—participants engaged in discussions, workshops and interactive sessions designed to turn ideas into action. 

A Platform for Dialogue and Impact 

The programme featured nearly 150 speakers from 25 EU countries, including 80 members of the Climate Pact community. High-level discussions addressed the state of EU climate policy and the role of climate action in boosting Europe’s competitiveness, innovation and resilience. 

Among the key speakers, European Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth Wopke Hoekstra emphasised the importance of aligning climate ambition with economic opportunity, while DG CLIMA Director-General Kurt Vandenberghe highlighted the need to transform growing climate risks into collective resilience across sectors such as water, food systems, cities and health. 

Beyond policy discussions, the event celebrated real-world impact through community-led initiatives, storytelling and creative formats, including live music, exhibitions and interactive workshops, demonstrating that climate action is as much about people and culture as it is about policy. 

From Local Action to European Momentum 

The Brussels event marked the culmination of a month-long series of 115 local Climate Action Days organised across Europe. These activities showcased how communities are actively engaging citizens and implementing solutions tailored to local needs. 

At the Climate Action Village, participants explored innovative EU-funded projects and initiatives, exchanging ideas and building connections to scale up their impact. 

Spotlight: Energy Renovation and Citizen Engagement 

The discussions held during Together in Action 2026 strongly resonated with the objectives of Shake Up Your Skills, an EU-funded project supporting the development of skills for energy-efficient and resilient buildings. 

In particular, sessions on energy renovation highlighted the importance of engaging citizens, landlords and local communities in improving building performance: an approach that lies at the core of the Shake Up project.  By showcasing practical solutions for more sustainable and inclusive housing, speakers also stressed the importance of reaching both homeowners and tenants, especially in situations where residents are unable to directly invest in property upgrades.

These approaches demonstrate how citizen-driven models can accelerate the transition to climate-neutral housing while ensuring social fairness. 

The discussion also touched on the upcoming Social Climate Fund, which will support EU Member States in financing measures for households and small enterprises. National plans are expected in 2026, with implementation starting in 2027, focusing on areas such as heating, mobility and energy access. 

Tackling Climate Disinformation 

Another key theme was climate disinformation and the challenges of navigating information in the digital age. Insights from recent EU surveys reveal that many citizens struggle to distinguish reliable information from misleading content, particularly on social media. 

Speakers highlighted that disinformation is often intentional and amplified through repetition, making false narratives appear credible over time. The discussion also pointed to the growing influence of public figures and online platforms in shaping climate discourse.

Looking Ahead 

Together in Action 2026 demonstrated the power of collaboration between people, communities and institutions in driving Europe’s climate progress. From local initiatives to EU-wide policies, the event highlighted that meaningful climate action depends on participation, trust and shared responsibility. 

As the Climate Pact community continues to grow, the momentum generated in Brussels will play a crucial role in shaping a more sustainable, resilient and climate-neutral Europe.
